    *Open Longsword Tier A will have a cutoff of 1450 HEMA Rating. The combined total cap for Open Longsword Tier B+C is 80 participants; however participants with a HEMA Rating greater than 1500 will be able to continue to register without a limit.

    Lynx Cup is a premier tournament built for competitors who want fun, fairness, and clarity from first pool to final.

    Longsword (Open), split into Divisions 1, 2, and 3
    The Open Longsword field is divided into three separate divisions.
    The top 8 finishers in each division receive medals.


    Provisional Division guidelines (HEMA Ratings):
    Division 1: recommended for fencers rated 1450+ (open rating or mg rating)
    Division 2: recommended for experienced fencers below 1450 (typically ~1000–1449 open or mg rating)
    Division 3: recommended for newcomers, unrated fencers, or those below 1000

    When a fencer signs up for Longsword they will be placed into the hold bin.
    Shortly before the Tournament fencers will be sorted into Division.

    Marginalized Gender Longsword
    Open to trans and cis women, trans men, non-binary, intersex, and other gender-expansive people who are often underrepresented in HEMA.

    Saber, Messer, Rapier & Dagger
    These will run as standard open tournaments. All skill levels are welcome to participate.

  • Lake Edge Open Cutting Tournament 2026

    January 31 February 1

    Join Us for Lake Edge Open, the East coast’s first annual cutting tournament!  Lake Edge Open is committed to growing the sword cutting competition scene and enhancing the practices of Historical European Martial Arts.
    Competitors have the opportunity to compete in three separate categories (Arming, Longsword and Messer/Falchion), as well as access to a cutting class, hosted by Phil Martin, and a sharpening demo, hosted by Chris Fields of Sterling Armory.


    Along with the cutting events, all competitors and general admission attendees may enjoy medieval games including archery, axe throwing, bags, and sword jenga, along with the opportunity to pet and feed the many animals of our host location, Sterling Farmery.
    Our organization values tradition, community, and the advancement of swordsmanship through engaging competitions and education.

  • Brick City Brawl 2025

    Hey everybody! RIT is hosting our annual open tournament, Brick City Brawl 2025, on October 10th and 11th in Rochester, NY. We’ll be running messer on the evening of the 10th and saber, longsword, and rapier on the 11th. Tickets will go on sale August 10th, and early bird prices are $30 per event with discounts for volunteer judges and NIHL-affiliated students. Come on out and have a fun and whimsical time!

    Friday

    • October 10th – 6:30-9:30 pm – Messer

    Saturday – October 11th

    • 10:30 am-1:00 pm – Saber
    • 2:00-5:00 pm – Longsword
    • 5:00-8:00 pm – Rapier
