DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the 4th Annual Academy of Fencing Masters (AFM) Super Regional SYC\, RJCC\, Div1A ROC\, Veteran ROC\nSYC age categories – Y8\, Y10\, Y12\, Y14 RJCC age categories – Cadet\, Junior ROC – Division 1A\, Veterans \nSYC events for Y10/Y12/Y14 awards youth national points All other events award regional points\, with Cadet/Junior awarding regional points only for Region 4 fencers \nThe Venue\nSanta Clara Convention Center\, located at 5001 Great America Pkwy\, Santa Clara\, CA 95054 \n77 strips provided by Absolute Fencing. Final bouts will be fenced at the Finals Strip \nAge Eligibility\n\nY8 = 2017-2019\nY10 = 2015-2018\nY12= 2013-2016 (or on Y10 NRPS)\nY14 = 2011-2014 (or on Y12 NRPS)\nCADET = 2009-2012 (or on Y14 NRPS)\nJUNIOR = 2006-2012 (or on CADET NRPS)\nDivision 1A = 2012 and older (or on JUNIOR NRPS)\nVeteran = 1986 or older\n\nTournament Schedule\n\nAll times are the Close of Check-in. Fencing pools will start within a few minutes from the close of check-in time. The start time of events is subject to change to maintain load balancing. We will notify all fencers if the start time changes. We reserve the right to modify event start times within 3 hours of the currently posted time. This is because\, at the time of publication of this tournament\, it is impossible to predict the number of entries for each event. Days will stay the same. The final event start times will be posted 2 weeks after the regular fee registration closes.\n\nSchedule IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE \nCheck-In\n\nThe venue opens at 7 AM every day. We recommend arriving at least 1 hour before the close of check-in.\n\nProof of current USA Fencing membership.\n\nTo use the Auto Check-In feature\, all fencers must have a USA Fencing membership card or a clearly legible copy.\nFencers must check in every event they compete in.\n\nEquipment Check\n\nEquipment check will be open on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. (times are subject to change based on venue setup readiness).\nIt is highly recommended that you come to check your equipment on Thursday if your first event is on Friday and one day earlier than your first event in general.\n\nThings to bring to check:\n\nEpee Fencers – Mask\, Glove\, Body cords\nFoil/Sabre Fencers – Mask\, Glove\, Body Cords\, Mask Cords\, Lame\n\nEquipment Vendor on Site\nAbsolute Fencing Gear \nParking and Venue Info\nParking is free for the event attendees. In order to be promoted a valid method of payment should be provided at the time of the registration.\nThe waitlist promotion will happen after the late fee deadline. If you don’t want to be promoted please remove yourself from the waitlist. Unlimited ample free parking. The venue is located across from the host hotel’s parking lot. No need for transportation Separate area for bags and warm-up 34 grounded strips with a separate final strip The entire venue will be dedicated to the fencing competition for the duration of all three days. A complete concession stand is available throughout the entire competition. \n\n\n\nThe venue will be open every day at 6:30 AM. \n\n\n\nTournament Schedule All times are based on the Close of Check-in. You should arrive at least 60-90 minutes before the start time to check in\, inspect the equipment\, and warm up. It is best to be age-verified with USA Fencing or provide proof of age (such as a birth certificate or passport) and present your membership card at check-in. Start times of events are subject to change to maintain load balancing. We will notify all fencers of any changes in start times. Could you check your email and the registration page for changes in start times? We are only responsible if you arrive on time for your event. All fencers MUST wear a plastron (underarm protector). All foil fencers wearing a chest protector must wear the FIE-required padded protector. These are necessary for females and optional for males. All fencers must wear knickers – no sweatpants will be permitted. Standard fencing uniforms cannot have any rips\, tears\, or holes. Socks must conform to the USA Fencing Association rules and cover the entire lower leg up to the knickers. \n\n\n\nEquipment Check-In and Requirements: A check of the equipment is required before competing\, and it will be available one hour before the first event. Any registration after this time will be subject to the late fees. \nTo withdraw\, email withdrawals@usafencing.org. Please allow us up to 5-7 business days for us to respond. We will honor the withdrawal from the date the email was sent.  \nRegistration and administration fees are nonrefundable\, and registrants withdrawing from an event will only receive a refund of fifty (50) percent of the Event Registration fees. Those who withdraw after the withdrawal deadline are not eligible for a refund under any circumstance.  The withdrawal deadline is October 15th\, at 11:59 PM Pacific Time. Refunds are processed 4-6 weeks after the tournament. \nShould a fencer fail to appear for any event without sending an email by 5 PM local time of the day before\, the fencer will be subject to a fine of $250 per event that the individual fails to appear for AND suspension of membership privileges\, including participation in all USA Fencing sanctioned tournaments\, until the applicable fine(s) is/are paid.
